Welcome to the new GuyMcDowell.com. I changed hosting companies and the layout to reflect a bit better what I am trying to do with this site. Specifically, this site is a resource for you that give tech support in less-than-usual business situations, like the Oil and Gas Industry or Forestry.
I support approximately 55 remote users and 15 office users. Our remote users do not have good internet access as they are often using Cellular Internet, sometimes Satellite Internet. The challenge that arises is that they cannot reliably connect to our network via VPN or RDP, so they have to have everything locally on their laptop, to do their job.
The other challenge comes from supporting them remotely since they can be up to 2000 km’s away from the office. Sometimes they even go overseas.
Hope you like the site and find some of the information useful. If you have anything to contribute, please do!
